Veterinary Rehabilitation Therapy

The mission of the Rehabilitation Section at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware is to work with referring veterinarians and our own specialists to expand on existing excellent care using our integrated approach to pet health and well-being.  Following surgery or injury, our pets are susceptible to pain in the affected limb as well as other limbs and the spine because of alterations in biomechanics.  We can provide additional pain relief, edema reduction, and easing of muscle spasm in the immediate post-operative period as well as create a graduated recovery program tailored to the individual needs of the pet, the client, and the referring veterinarian.  Our services are applicable to any patient experiencing pain or limited mobility, and can help improve overall body function.  We partner with enthusiastic clients who want to be actively involved in the treatment of their pet. Our rehabilitation veterinarians are dedicated to returning your pet to the activities of daily living as quickly as possible.

Available modalities include:

            Therapeutic massage

            Thermotherapy

            Electrical stimulation

            Therapeutic ultrasound

            Therapeutic exercise

            Client education and support

Our family-oriented veterinarians, Dr. Carrie Althouse and Dr. Natalie Campbell, have over 25 years of combined experience in veterinary medicine and believe in practical, compassionate care for our patients and their families.  They approach pet wellness with the ultimate goal of optimizing quality of life for our pets and the people who love them.
